We are in a really great marina. We happened onto St. Johns Yacht Harbor, 8 miles south of Charleston because we had too long a day. We stopped here yesterday after 8 hours of gray skies and motoring. Today was supposed to be rainy, so we stayed put. George worked this morning for a few hours on engineering projects. I read and cleaned up and made a grocery list. Reading
The Water is Wide by the marshes is delightful. We are so pleased with this marina: The bathrooms are huge, clean, and fancy. They are the nicest we've seen since the Demopolis Yacht Basin. The laundry is clean and has 4 washers and 4 dryers that work for just $1.00/load. The dockhands are polite and energetic. The loaner car is a fairly new Hyundai. This is a terrific stop and much cheaper than the marinas across the bridge in Charleston.

The view from our cockpit. You can see the sky is clearing. |
We used the loaner car at 2:00 to go to Target and buy a Britta water filter. Our water has particles we can see, which feels yucky. Then we bought groceries at Harris Teeter. It was one of those stores that makes you happy to make dinner. I now have dates to make a new appetizer. (Dates heated in olive oil, topped with finishing salt and served with crusty bread.) We tried to locate a liquor store since we are out of gin (Oh, no!), but the two we tracked on our phone were not to be found.

I am energized to cook now with fresh foods and clean water. Our lettuce is thriving, so we will have a salad tonight.
Today has been a good day for getting chores completed and planning. Tomorrow we are going five hours north to McClellanville, SC. There is a family run marina there and a tiny, quirky town to explore. One writer said there are 400 people and at least that many dogs too.

When your drinking water has particles floating in it, then it’s really a good time to get a water filter. I hope that the one you bought has been serving you well these past months. Anyway, it seems like you had a wonderful time on your stop at St. Johns Yacht Harbor. Thanks for sharing, and have a great day!
