Serene Spot

Serene, quiet, tranquil - these are all words that describe the lovely village of Isle of Hope, GA.  South of Savannah, this marina is surrounded by walkable streets, at least five churches, and beautiful old wooden homes.  Oh, to have one of these houses facing the ICW!  On our walk this morning we met lots of friendly dog walkers and chatted with two guys who live here, restoring their Albin trawler.

We had a great time with Rhonda Davidson and Bob Keown yesterday.  First, there were the happy hours:  They arrived at 3:00 pm. Then, yummy fish dinners at Driftaway Café.  I surprised myself by resisting the call of the fried shrimp platter.  The grouper was excellent.  It was good to catch up on  news of Atlanta, tennis, and their daughter.  They moved on to a family party at St. Simons after dinner.

Cute photo of Rhonda and Bob

Our next scheduled guests, Susan Avent and her sister Carol, called this morning to say that they cannot visit today.  Susan hurt her back at exercise class and can't make the drive comfortably. (Maybe that's why I don't go to exercise class.)  We are disappointed even though we totally understand.  We are all ready for company, in case anyone is ready to jump in the car and come.

Here are some photos from today's walk:

The spiderwort is already blooming here.

We don't usually see dogwoods covered in moss.

Old and well tended Episcopal Church.

My mother had Lady Banks Roses like these.

Tomorrow we will attend the sunrise service on the dock.  What a treat to sing as the sun comes up.
We do see the sunrise almost every day.  That's one of our perks.
