We are in Sisters Creek!

What a busy day!  George and I had separate adventures today.  George and John Scott brought Aunt Aggie from Key West to Marathon.  George reported a smooth day with little wave action.  They arrived in Boot Key Harbor and spent a half hour trying to anchor to no avail.  It was too crowded as there are about 30 boats anchored outside the mooring field. Then they moved over to Sisters Creek and found a spot.  However, Aunt Aggie is close to a sailboat, and the current is running toward the sailboat, so they had to tie her up to the mangrove trees and drop two anchors.  That is a lot of work!

Can you see the two black lines going from our boat into the trees?

Here is the sailboat that is beside us, a bit too close - our fault.
George said the sailor was really nice and helpful.
The boat has a mom, dad, and three children.

Meanwhile Kathy and I had a fun visit.  We stopped by to chat with Ross and Barb on Attitude Changer before leaving Stock Island.  I took notes on all the anchorages and marinas they were recalling from their loops.  Then Kathy and I drove over to Boca Chica, where she and John have a slip.  We checked our emails and went to lunch.  After a yummy caesar salad with mahi mahi, we drove to Marathon.  I enjoyed driving over the various keys and seeing the gorgeous turquoise water.  We had lots of good conversation too.  We arrived around 2:30.  As we walked to the front of the marina, a voice yelled, "Aren't you going to say hello?"  It was Karen from Last Mango.  We were so surprised and happy to see her.  I thought she was already in the Bahamas, but they have not been able to get enough time for their crossing, so they've been at Marathon for a week.  It was great to see Karen and John and hear their news.

John and George showed up at the marina office around 4:00, and we said our good-byes.  We so appreciate their help and good cheer.

George wanted to say hello to Karen and John, so we puttered over to their boat.  Then we went to Sisters Creek.  We studied the tide charts and decided on a plan for getting away tomorrow without running into the sailboat.  We had a gin and tonic.  We made a delicious dinner (roast beef, broccoli, potatoes, strawberries).  Now we've going to watch a couple of episodes of Firefly.  What fun escapism!  It's a futuristic western.

Tomorrow after the sailboat leaves, we can undo two lines going to mangroves and pull up two anchors and take off.  I will still be adjusting to being underway, but I will work on having a positive attitude.  The guys had such a good trip today, and I hope we will tomorrow also.
