Waiting for the Murffs

We are all ready for our company, Anne and Phil Murff, who will be arriving this afternoon.  We are cleaned up and have our groceries.  Last night we had a good rain, which hasn't happened often, so we are drying out with a lot of sun today.  We almost need air conditioning:  The temp is 75 degrees with no clouds at lunch time.

Today I went to Publix on the shuttle.  In the checkout line I was behind a young female member of the Coast Guard.  (I just googled:  What do you call a member of the Coast Guard and could not get a clear answer. "Coastie" as an informal term was offered.)  She was buying for the 20 members of her boat and this is what she had:  6 containers of egg salad; 4 loaves of bread; lots of fresh fruit; and at least 20 packages of beef jerky.

On the way home I had a conversation with Fernando, a boater from Ontario.  He and his wife are staying in a house boat at our marina for a week.  They are checking out marinas in Florida because they plan to buy an 85 foot ship and use it as a bed and breakfast.  Fernando wants to bring Canadians down the Atlantic coast to Key West.  His ship will carry 10 passengers, a cleaner, he and his wife.  Fernando will be both the captain and the cook.  His wife is a magazine editor, who works on the boat. They plan to take their first trip in October.
Here are two signs I saw in a great shop yesterday on Duvall Street.
