New and Old Friends

Blue Willow: Vicki, Mark and their dog, Daisy.

Today we said good-bye to Blue Willow for at least a couple of weeks.  They headed north, and we stayed at Half Moon Bay Marina.  I hope we connect again in Canada.  They have been great traveling companions.

Then we got busy on Aunt Aggie, cleaning out the extra berth for Doris (who will arrive from Boston in an hour), scrubbing, dusting, washing and organizing.  This small space looks better when it is neat and clean.  I took the taxi to Shop Rite to buy more fun food for our gathering tomorrow.  George did his engineering work and vacuumed. We are making a vegetarian feast for lunch:  pasta salad, asparagus, cheeses, hummus, fruit bowl, and cookies.

This is the view from the top of the steps at the marina.  You see an anchorage full of sailboats right next door.

We just came up with entertainment too:  We will have a White Elephant type giveaway.  We have several partial bottles of spirits + a bottle of cranberry wine (a marina gift) + a 12 pack of toilet paper we're afraid to use (It might stop up our system.) + a pot of healthy basil (We can't take plants into Canada.) We are looking ahead to entering Canada and thinking unloading these treasures (junk?) onto our friends is a way to clean off the boat and avoid a possible international incident.  Sounds fun too, right? (There are strict rules about what can be brought into the country.)

Thank goodness we have friends coming.  After Blue Willow exited, Gimme Time, who was tied behind us, also took off.  I wanted to leave too.  Follow the crowd.  Get moving to Canada.  But no, we are staying, excited to visit with folks from Dublin, from high school, people who knew us when we were Martha Smyth and George Alexander, two crazy kids in the high school band.  We love their daughters too, two of the smartest and funniest women around. So tonight we get to visit with Doris, and tomorrow the rest of the team arrives.  So fun!  Happy Friday to all!

Kathy and Kenny from Oklahoma hosted a bunch of loopers on their American Tug, No Zip Code, one wet day in Great Kills, NY. Kathy is taking the photo.  Kenny is 4th from the left.
